The result is five-layer construction of our ML5 polypropylene (PP-R) pipes.
Our long history as innovators in multilayer technology proved key to developing this revolutionary type of pipe. Our strong, light, five-layer fiber composite pipe combines the advantages of PP-R copolymer and glass-fiber-reinforced PP-R in one product thanks to the alternating layer structure.
The outer layer of each pipe is made from high-grade polypropylene granulate. This layer is color-coded to the pipe’s use and protects the inner layers. The four inner layers alternate between our proprietary glass-fiber compound and PP-R. Two layers of PP-R glass-fiber compound are the result of detailed research carried out at the POLYMELT Polymer-Engineering division and represent a breakthrough in the piping industry. Perfectly formulated interaction between the corresponding glass fibers and the PP-R matrix provides outstanding deflection and low-temperature impact strength. When it comes to linear expansion, POLYMELT has a third-party-verified expansion coefficient—an industry exclusive.
The glass-fiber PP-R layers are alternated with PP-R layers to improve long-term stress resistance at longer periods of operation, especially at higher temperatures. The innermost layer of every pipe is smooth PP-R, ensuring a low-friction inner surface that all but eliminates deposits and encrustations.
The result of this groundbreaking structure is a strong, lightweight design with a lifespan of 50 years or more. Our ML5 pipes require virtually zero maintenance to operate with optimal efficiency.
